TaxClear

1. Who we are

TaxClear is a Canadian tax guidance tool that helps individuals estimate and identify potential tax deductions. We are not a licensed tax filing service or CPA firm. Our registered business operates in Canada.

2. What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide our service:

• Your email address (for account creation and magic link login)
• Tax documents you upload (T4, T4A, receipts, etc.) — stored encrypted
• Information extracted from those documents (income, deductions, employer name)
• Your answers to wizard questions and deduction selections
• Basic usage data (pages visited, features used) for product improvement

We do not collect your SIN, banking details, or CRA login credentials.

3. How we use your data

• To process your documents and identify potential deductions
• To provide personalized AI-powered tax guidance
• To calculate your estimated refund
• To send account-related emails (never marketing without consent)
• To improve TaxClear's AI models and product features

We never sell your data. We never share it with third parties for advertising.

4. Where your data is stored

All data is stored in Canada using Supabase infrastructure hosted on AWS (Canada region). Documents are encrypted at rest using AES-256 and in transit using TLS 1.2+.

Uploaded documents are automatically deleted after 90 days unless you delete them sooner.

5. AI processing

Your documents are processed using Anthropic Claude AI and Google Cloud Vision OCR. These services process your data solely to extract tax information on your behalf. Data sent to these services is not used to train their models (we use zero-data-retention agreements where available).

6. Your rights

Under PIPEDA (Canada) and applicable privacy law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent for data processing
• Data portability (export your data in a readable format)

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@gettaxclear.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (Supabase session tokens). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our service evolves. We will notify users of material changes by email. The latest version is always available at gettaxclear.com/privacy.
